Despite a crippling snowstorm that closed the university, the Gokcumen and Xu-Friedman labs faced off over bowling pins at Transit Lanes. Omer himself outbowled everyone, but good humour was maintained by snacks.


Krista Perks, a postdoc with Nate Sawtell at Columbia, is visiting the lab to learn some tricks of the trade of slice electrophysiology. She arrives already extremely accomplished, but we hope to help her with her goals of recording from mormyrid ELL in slices.


Xiaowen showed her work on the effects of different acoustic conditions on auditory nerve synapses, at the Midwinter Meeting of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology in San Diego. She got great feedback from visitors to the poster.
