On-going projects are primarily centered around the ​modulation of auditory nerve synapses by acoustic conditions, and include:

  • How acoustic conditions drive cellular changes (imaging, slice electrophysiology)

  • How synaptic changes affect responses of auditory neurons to sounds (in vivo electrophysiology)

  • How synapses change structure (serial blockface electron microscopy)

  • How encoding of sounds changes (optogenetics)​
